Antti Everi has been the most successful Finnish male weightlifter in the past few years. He will make his Olympic debut in Beijing by virtue of an invitation place awarded to the Finnish NOC. Antti learned his weightlifting skills in his home town of Pori, where he was inspired by former Olympic medallists Kaarlo Kangasniemi and Jouni Grönman. His sister Anna Everi is also a member of the Finnish national weightlifting team. Antti is finishing his studies for a Master of Science degree at the Tampere University of Technology and is currently working as an information technology expert at a major department store in Helsinki. He is an avid audiophile and collector of high fidelity stereo equipment.
